wes mess v. 3.0

now i lay you down to sleep. i pray the Lord your soul to keep. you turned three today, and so i weep. if i should fail you any way, i pray the Lord will show His grace. i pray protection over you. i pray for love and friendship, too. i pray that every step you take, every decision that you make, will be filtered by His hand, and for His sake.

little man, we love you for everything you are. funny. strong. messy. loving. looney. adorable. loud. gentle. the gift from God, that made our little family complete.

only three years old, but i don't remember what we did before you came. but, i do remember how clean my kitchen was. i'm just sayin'. love. love. you have definitely earned the right to keep your nick name for another year...wes mess.

can i have seconds please?

blogging makes my heart happy. it's giving importance to all the "everyday" things that don't usually make the family photo album. when my kids grow up, i want them to have something that will transport them back in time. something that just pulls their hearts and minds and senses back to the days that, one day, will seem like a lifetime ago.

supper time is usually uneventful. to the naked eye. but when i get my camera out. i see it for what it really is.

it's a family. it's a little girl practicing her culinary skills. it's little boys with dirt on their faces, shoveling in their spinach to make it to dessert. it's sharing highs and lows of the day spent apart. it's spilled milk. it's a weary two-year-old. it's family devotionals. it's the evening light streaming in the windows. it's an open screen door, and a welcomed spring breeze. it's here. it's now. it's delicious. it's not. it's chaotic. it's not. it's perfection. it's not. it's love. pure love.

and, one day, it will be no more. but, not today.
